About ME

Nothing exciting.  Just a Canadian Girl (me) living and working in the Middle East (ME).  Trying to make sense of life while

driving, working, living and breathing

in the desert air.   Trying to convince herself that sand and beige can replace the blue skies, gold/green/red leaves.

July 12, 2013 Update:

When I sat down to write my first post in December 2012 I had no idea what I was going to write about or how I was going to go about it. I just thought to myself: "Write, and see where it takes you."

Since "Driving, working, living and breathing" in the Middle East had been both a challenge and an opportunity for me over the past six plus years, I figured addressing that dichotomy was a good place to start.

I still haven't figured out where I'm going, how I'm getting there, or what my destination is, but I do know I'm moving forward. Somehow, sitting down a few times a week and forcing myself to find the right words to describe the "driving, working, living and breathing" aspects of life in Doha as an expat mom, wife and career woman has been more cathartic than I would have ever imagined possible.

This blog is truly my gift to me. It gives me a valid excuse to sit down and write. It motivates me to actually commit moments to memory. It gets me to stop and absorb and truly feel. It makes me re-think what I thought knew. It helps me appreciate the crazy, embrace the absurd, accept the frustration, acknowledge the sorrow. I am laughing so much more. I am thankful again. I am truly, truly, truly thankful again. What a gift.

Whether you're dropping in for the first time or you've been here before, I really do hope you'll find something in these pages to make you laugh or cry or learn or just feel. But in case this blog doesn't do any of those for you, check out the other talented bloggers' links in the "You Might Like" section.

Thanks for dropping by.
